What is the role of the procurement section?
The section issues quotations directly to suppliers and places the relevant purchase orders.
The section is responsible for tenders and advises departments on the best way to tender for work. They can also look for opportunities where a number of requirements across different divisions can be consolidated into one Tender.
The Council procures approx £7 million of goods and services each year and must comply with numerous European and UK Laws.
The Council's purchasing policy is designed to demonstrate openness, transparency and equality, with due consideration to quality and value for money.
