Refuse Collection and Disposal
Refuse Collection and Disposal
Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council has a statutory responsibility to collect domestic waste and does so using the kerbside method of collection. Waste not contained in wheeled bin containers will not be removed unless Council has issued bags to cover a holiday period.
Whilst refuse is normally collected from the property, arrangements can be made for disabled people living alone, on production of a doctor's medical certificate, to avail of an assisted collection.
Trade Waste Bin Costs
A commercial waste service is provided to traders who avail of the wheeled bin system and have paid a pre-set collection fee as required under the 1994 Waste Collection and Disposal Arrangements. Weekly collections consist of a full range of bins comprising on average 675 bins per week.

Abandoned Motor Vehicles
Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council is responsible, under statutory legislation, for the removal of abandoned motor vehicles throughout the Borough.
On receipt of a letter from the police, the Council will place a seven day abandonment notice on the vehicle. On expiry of the notice the vehicle will be removed and disposed off to a local scrap merchant.
Illegal Dumping
The Council provides a service for the removal of accumulated rubbish termed "illegal dumping". Depending on extent of material deposited refuse skips or a mechanical shovel may need to be used.
