Holiday at Home in Dungannon and South Tyrone
It's back to school time and the holiday season is reaching a close. But don't despair! As part of the NITB Be a Tourist at Home campaign, Flavour of Tyrone and DRP in association with the Borough Council would like to invite residents to sample whats on offer locally at some of its finest restaurants, craft centres and town centre attractions.
Take a guided tour around Dungannon's recently launched heritage trail and learn how Dungannon got it's name and its connections with The Great Hugh O'Neill and Brigadier General John Nicholson. On the tour, which begins at Bank Buildings (built 1854) and finishes at St Anne's hall on Northland Row, you will stop off at many of Dungannon's most historical buildings including Castle Hill, St Patricks Church and the Royal School.
Indulge in retail therapy with 10% off handmade gifts at the newly opened Killymaddy Craft Centre which offers the finest range of craftware individually made by craftspeople from Tyrone and Donegal.
Take advantage of 10% off all Flavour of Tyrone dishes at the county's many Good Food Circle restaurants which include well known restaurants in Dungannon, Castlecaulfield, Cookstown, Ballygawley and Fivemiletown..
Discount offers are available on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th September via a special booklet now available at Killymaddy Tourist Information Centre. Whilst next weekend is already a very important date for many of Tyrone's sporting fraternity, Mary McGee of Flavour of Tyrone is confident that residents can enjoy the best of both worlds:
"The Be a Tourist at Home campaign is a unique opportunity for us to sample the finest tourist attractions available on our doorstep. Everyone knows what its like to have visitors from further afield come to stay, so now that the holiday season comes to a close, why not do some homework on how to entertain next years tourists by taking advantage of the discounts on offer at local attractions? Those travelling to Croke Park for the All Ireland Final needn't miss out - many of our Good Food Circle restaurants are open until 9.30pm so what better way to end the day than relaxing in your favourite restaurant and receive 10% off the bill at the same time."
