Willowbank Members 'Get Up and Grow'

Willowbank is a local charity, based on the Carland Road, Dungannon, which is used by physically disabled adults from the local community. It is now home to Willowbank Organic Producers, who are running the ‘Get Up and Grow’ project. The project lives up to its name by actively encouraging the users of the centre to literally ‘Get Up and Grow’, be it a carrot or a petunia! Two polytunnels have now been erected on the site to further aid all the horticultural activities.
‘Get Up and Grow’ is a social economic project supported by S.T.A.P. (The Local Strategic Partnership), funded under the Special European Programme. The project aims to enable persons with disabilities to undertake training and work placements, while at the same time producing quality farm fresh and ornamental produce for resale.
‘Get Up and Grow’ had its first sale at the Farmer’s Market, Dungannon, selling indoor baskets, outdoor planters and a selection of farm fresh vegetables. A range of Christmas themed indoor baskets and outdoor planters will also be made available for the Festive season.
Local community support is greatly appreciated; look out for ‘Get Up and Grow’ at your local market.
