HOW FRENCHMAN'S LANE GOT IT'S NAME, AND THE NIGHT OF THE BIG WIND IN DONAGHMORE, ARE JUST SOME of the fascinating stories recounted in the newest publication to be launched by Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council in association with Donaghmore Historical Society.
The Donaghmore and Castlecaulfield Heritage Trail, which is the second in a series from the Council, is an illustrated map folder which guides visitors through historic streets and squares, revealing the intriguing secrets behind the area's wealth of historical buildings and monuments.
It features a trail of discovery which takes you from Tully House at the foot of Donaghmore village, past the famous High Cross and through the ruins of the castle of Sir Toby Caulfield.
Mayor of Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council, Councillor Barry Monteith says:
"The extraordinary stories of Donaghmore and Castlecaulfield are embodied in the magnificent churches, schools, public buildings and monuments which are to be seen all around this illustrious area.
"For the first time ever, our new Heritage Trail booklet - which, is free from Killymaddy TIC plus surrounding tourist outlets interprets all of these major landmarks in a delightfully readable and user-friendly way."
