Publish Date: Tuesday, 20 May 2008
EVERYONE NEEDS A LITTLE BLACK BOOK....
Celebrity chef Jenny Bristow and Minister of Agriculture Michelle Gildernew MLA showed off their 'little black book' at this week's Balmoral Show.
'Tops and Tails' - a Little Black Recipe Book from Flavour of Tyrone's Good Food Circle offers the opportunity to sample the delights and promote locally produced quality food from Tyrone and Donegal.
This second edition publication features restaurant style recipes from Flavour of Tyrone Good Food Circle Restaurants and Donegal Tourism restaurants which can be cooked at home. Tasty fish dishes include Mulroy Cheese Scallops and Ocean Smoked Salmon and Tyrone recipes focus on locally produced food, such as, Cookstown Smoked Bacon Salad - enough to make your mouth water!
Tyrone Good Food Circle Chairperson, Karen Lambe of Dine@Dungannon Restaurant says:
"The publication of the Little Black Recipe Booklet - Tops and Tails is a welcome addition to the first Little Black Recipe Book which featured signature main course dishes from both regions. The aim of these books is to encourage local people to cook a range of dishes featuring the best of local produce, in simple and innovative styles, and to discover what quality products can be found on their doorstep."
Karen took the opportunity to serve Ms Bristow and Ms Gildernew a recipe of Fivemiletown Smoked Brie with Red Onion and Tomato jam while Stangmore Townhouse, Dungannon provided their infamous home made wheaten bread with onion marmalade.
TV chef Jenny enthused and congratulated Flavour of Tyrone on promoting the use of local produce in the hospitality sector whilst setting quality service and standards for visitors to the region.
Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council in conjunction with Donegal County Council have established this Cross Border Partnership initiative to improve visitor perception of both areas. The aim is to promote tourism and hospitality, highlighting the indigenous products and expertise of food sectors in both areas.
At the Flavour of Tyrone stand, the Minister and Jenny also enjoyed the opportunity to try their skill at glass cutting with Tyrone Crystal.
