BUSINESSES in Dungannon are hoping to cash in on Christmas with the launch of a new television ad campaign.
Funding of £18,000 for this initiative has been awarded through the Interreg IIIA Programme which is managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by the East Border Region Interreg IIIA Partnership.
The initiative, the first of its kind in the area, has been spear-headed by the Cross Border Retail Development Programme, a collaboration between Armagh, Dungannon and Monaghan councils, the Chambers of Commerce and other partners, that aims to develop the retail sector across the region.
Unveiled at an event in Armagh City Hotel on Monday 19 November, the advertising campaign, which showcases the benefits of shopping in the area, will run on UTV from 21 November to 8 December.
Sarah-Jane Stevenson, Project Officer of the Cross Border Retail Development Programme, said: "The television commercial is a great example of successful collaboration and is without question a milestone for the Programme. The commercial is high quality, short and sweet encouraging people to shop in Armagh, Dungannon and Monaghan this Christmas."
A series of workshops have been held in Armagh, Dungannon and Monaghan throughout the year, providing practical training and mentoring in customer care, marketing, merchandising, shop floor lay-outs and window dressing for retailers.
This training scheme culminated at the unveiling of the new advertising campaign, as participants on the programme took part in a networking evening, where they explored further techniques for working together and examples of best practice.
Participants who completed the Cross Border Retail Training Programme were also presented with certificates to mark their achievement.
