RECYCLE ALUMINIUM TO HELP PLANT MORE TREES

With summer on the way, Dungannon and South Tyrone residents are being reminded to “Get Recycling” and turn the Borough ‘green’ as every alu-can recycled will help plant a tree locally. Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council is encouraging everyone to save and recycle their aluminium drinks cans and aluminium foil by using local recycling facilities.

The initiative is part of a national programme that aims to plant up to 35,000 trees in autumn 2004 in the UK by encouraging the public to recycle more of their domestic waste. Recyclers have until June 2004 to really make an impact.

Ruth Meeke, Operations Manager for The Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organisation (Alupro) commented:
“Aluminium is the perfect material to focus public attention on what can be achieved through getting into the recycling habit, with its high value, and 95% energy saving each and every time it is returned for recycling, the message has to be – don’t forget to give all your aluminium as soon as possible!”

For more information on how you could get involved in “Get Recycling”, by using your local recycling facilities, please contact Alupro on Tel 0845 7227722.
