Kids in Dungannon & South Tyrone have been given the use of four news play parks, just in time for the summer holidays! The play parks at Beechline (Galbally), Roan (Eglish), Currans Brae (Moy) and Washingbay were all capital funded by the Council and were officially opened last week by Mayor Cllr Barry Monteith and local Councillors from their respective Wards.

Mayor Councillor Barry Monteith stated, "As a Council we are committed to providing play areas where and when we can. It is very much promoted that children learn through play and I would encourage the communities of Currans Brae, Galbally, Roan and Washingbay to take ownership of the parks and ensure that your children enjoy them to their full potential."Washingbay Playpark

Funding was received by the Lough Neagh Area Partnership to contribute towards the play park at Washingbay. The Washing Bay Conservation Area is rich in biodiversity, with examples of reedbed, fen marsh and wet woodland found along the shore of Lough Neagh. The site also contains a rich variety of species, from reed buntings, sedge warbler, and a range of damselflies and dragonflies in the fen marsh, to great crested grebe, tufted duck, goldeneye, pochard, scaup and whooper swan in the lake. Footpaths and information panels have been installed to help visitors learn more about the quality of the Lough Neagh Wetland and what is found there as Lough Neagh is an internationally important wetland for wildlife and is worth exploring.
