Castle Leslie Chef to Cook at Food Festival
Publish Date: Friday, 27 April 2007
Chef to the stars, Noel McMeel of Castle Leslie is one of many 'celebrity' chefs to have confirmed their attendance at the forthcoming Food and Drink Festival at Dungannon Park on Bank Holiday Monday 7th May.
Noel is head chef at the renowned Castle Leslie hotel in Co Monaghan, most famous as the setting for Paul McCartney's wedding a number of years ago. At Castle Leslie, Noel has successfully married the memory of growing up on a small farm in Ireland with his extensive professional experience in Ireland, Paris and the USA.
"When visitors came, we got out the good linen, picked the finest food our garden and larder had to offer, welcomed our guests and treated them to the best we had. That's just what we do at Castle Leslie."
Noel works closely with local producers and makes the most of natures bounty - from Lough Neagh eels, local livestock, fruit and vegetables to fresh fish - "one of the most understated commodities which we have at our fingertips."
He has trained in Northern Ireland, Johnston and Wales, Boston University and cole le Ntre in Paris and has cooked on live television including RTE's The Afternoon Show. His experience working with world leading chefs like Jean-Louis Palladin at the Watergate Hotel, Washington and Alice Waters of Chez Panisse in San Francisco, have combined to make Noel McMeel one of the most accomplished chefs working in Ireland today. This breadth and depth of culinary knowledge is manifested in the maturity of his approach to food.
Noel will cook a range of succulent dishes and give expert advice on developing your culinary skills at the food festival and will be joined by locally renowned chef Norah Brown (MBE) of Grange Lodge and Paula McIntyre of BBC. Other attractions at the food festival include a gourmet market, medieval village, Killybegs Seafood, barbecue and children's entertainment. The fun starts at 11am so come hungry and bring the family!
The food festival is organised by Flavour of Tyrone as part of Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council's Return of the Earls Dungannon 2007 Be Part of It campaign and is part financed by the European Union through the Exploring Diversity 07 & Beyond program managed for Special EU Programmes Body by Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council. and the Tyrone/Donegal Cross Border initiative.
