Spring into Summer at Dungannon 2007 Food & Drink Festival
Publish Date: Wednesday, 28 February 2007
Spring is finally here, and as the days stretch into long, luxurious summer evenings, our thoughts begin to drift to holidays, barbecues and days away with family and friends.
Flavour of Tyrone and Killybegs Tourism invite you to a day out with a difference at Dungannon Park on Bank Holiday Monday 7th May, when South Tyrone's first food and drink festival takes place from 11am-5pm. The event will showcase local gourmet produce from all over Ireland, speciality foods from different nations, tasty food demonstrations as well as a summer barbecue, medieval village and children's entertainment.
The food festival is organised in association with Dungannon and Donegal Councils with special guests from South-West Donegal who will bring the flavours of the Atlantic Sea to Tyrone as they display some of their finest seafood.
A gourmet food and drink market will tickle your taste buds with flavours from all over Europe. In nearby marquees you will find demonstrations from some of Northern Ireland's top chefs as they give out practical advice on how to incorporate healthy eating with delicious local recipes. A food education exhibition will display information on food safety and organic foods and South West Donegal fish will be on sale with advice on how to get the best from seafood.
Other attractions include wine tasting, a hospitality restaurant and a local meats/Donegal fish summer barbecue, a medieval tented village displaying armoury, food and clothing from the 17th century and cultural music with children's entertainment throughout the day.
The Food and Drink festival is organised to mark the 400th anniversary of the Flight of the Earls as part of the Dungannon 2007 - Be Part of It celebrations. The event is facilitated through Tyrone/Donegal Exploring Diversity Together Initiative and supported by funding from Special EU Programme Body under measure 5.2 promoting Peace and Reconciliation.
