Celebrate 2007! Dungannon Council launches Bumper Events Guide

To mark the 400th anniversary of the Flight of the Earls and the beginning of the Plantation of Ulster, Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council today launched it eagerly awaited events guide for 2007.
Mayor Councillor Jim Hamilton unveiled over 60 events which will take place throughout the year which promise to cater for all tastes. He said:
"I am delighted to present this comprehensive guide of what's on in Dungannon and South Tyrone in 2007. Council staff, elected members and the wider community have been working hard in preparation for this commemorative year in a bid to bring the public a series of events with a range of historical, sporting, musical and community themes."
The events guide features, amongst many others, a carnival style launch event in Market Square on 2nd March which will bring a funfair, fireworks and live music to Market Square. This years Achievement Awards ceremony takes place on 14th March and in May a food festival will come to town, followed a few weeks later by the ever popular Mayor's Pageant. Events continue throughout the summer with Bush Road Races, Picnic in the Park, the Castlecaulfield Flower Show and the opening of Castle Hill for the first time in hundreds of years.
