History Group Launches Calendar

Milltown Area Local History Group recently launched their 2007 calendar 'Milltown Memories' with a reception hosted by Mayor of Dungannon & South Tyrone, Cllr Jim Hamilton. Guests included representatives from Milltown Area Community Association (MACA), Mr & Mrs Dickson, Julie Bell from NITAP, and Roddie Hegarty and Mr Davidson from Federation of Ulster Studies.

Milltown is a small district sitting on the edge of the large town of Dungannon with the residents seeing themselves as very much part of the town and its history. The 'Milltown Memories' venture began in early 2005 when a small group of local people from the Milltown district of Dungannon began a project to look at the history of their area in an attempt to preserve their shared story and culture. These memories and their historical context demanded a more permanent record and it was decided that, with the volume of material yielded by the group, it was apparent that producing a published calendar was feasible.

Calendars are now available, priced £3.00, from any member of the Committee and also William Cardwell, 1 Brook Street, Dungannon.
