Community/Good Relations Survey Questionnaire

Publish Date: Tuesday, 09 February 2010

Under Section 75 (2) of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council (DSTBC) has a duty to "...have regard to the desirability of promoting good relations between persons of different religious belief, political opinion or racial group."

The core objective of this exercise is to seek the opinions of a wide range of stakeholders to inform the proposals for Councils Community/Good Relations Strategy which is submitted to the Office of the First and Deputy First Ministers (OFM/DFM) Department, who provide funding for this policy area. The strategy development process will be informed by the good relations needs of the local community and voluntary sector with the Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council area. This questionnaire has been designed to:
- Gauge the opinion of the local population on good relations issues
- Assess how the public of the DSTBC area feel that the Council addresses good relations issues
- Identify future good relations to be addressed by DSTBC
- Give local people the chance to influence the Council's Good Relations Strategy
- Benchmark levels of Social Capital within the Borough (levels of trust, relationships and linkages within and between communities)

All responses submitted to Council are anonymous - DSTBC will not be able to determine the identity of anyone who has returned a completed form.

The form should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete and your input into this process would be greatly appreciated. It is crucial that local people have the opportunity to frame the direction that this policy takes and play an important role in securing funding to enable community and voluntary sector groups to carry on with the all important work of promoting positive relationships.
