COUNTDOWN TO FLIGHT OF THE EARLS FESTIVAL

The countdown has begun to the much
anticipated Flight of the Earls Festival. The
Festival, which is taking place from 6th - 9th
September to commemorate the 400th
anniversary of the Flight of the Earls, will feature
a series of events which will focus on the shared
future of the people in Dungannon & South
Tyrone and the exciting prospects that lie ahead
both socially and economically.

Cross Border Retail Development Programme

The first of its kind this project aims to
rejuvenate and regenerate the retail centres of
Armagh City, Monaghan Town and Dungannon
Town as well as facilitate the growth of retail
support organisations in each area through joint
cross border collaboration. The £123,000 Project
is funded until June 2008 by the East Border
Region Interreg IIIA Partnership with the three
Councils also contributing.

Castle Hill Work Well Underway

Work is well underway to get the site of Castle
Hill ready for its official opening to the public in
September. Mayor of Dungannon & South Tyrone
Borough Cllr Barry Monteith recently made a visit
to Castle Hill to observe the hard work going on
behind the scenes by Technical Services staff,
who have been working around the clock to
ensure that the site will be ready in time for the
Flight of the Earls Festival from 6th - 9th
September, when it will allow public access for
the first time in hundreds of years.

NEW PLAYPARKS OPEN JUST IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!

Kids in Dungannon & South Tyrone have been
given the use of four news play parks, just in
time for the summer holidays! The play parks at
Beechline (Galbally), Roan (Eglish), Currans Brae
(Moy) and Washingbay were all capital funded by
the Council and were officially opened last week
by Mayor Cllr Barry Monteith and local Councillors
from their respective Wards.
