Q1. How do I get a wheeled bin?

A. A standard household wheeled bin can be purchased and collected from the Technical Services depot or, if desired, delivered to the householder. A range of costs can be reviewed under the Refuse Collection and Disposal section. You can contact Technical Services on 028 87720 390.

Q2. I left out bin bags with my bin but they were not collected. Why?

A. Council policy states that refuse not contained in wheeled bins, i.e. bags, boxes etc. will not be collected.

Q3. Do the Council collect bulky household items?

A. Yes, the Council provides a free of charge collection service for bulky household items such as cookers, fridges, suites, carpet, etc. Contact Technical Services 028 87720 390.

Q4. What do you put in the blue bin?

A. The Council has given clear instructions on the types of waste suitable for blue bins. This can be found under the Recycling section.

Q5. Who deals with illegal dumping?

A. The statutory duty of investigating the deposit of waste or operating unlicensed sites has transferred to the Environment and Heritage Service or contact them at 028 9025 1477.
