Q2. I have a problem with stray cats. What can I do?
A. Cats are classed as semi-wild animals and are not controlled by legislation. If a cat is injured or in danger the USPCA or the Cat Protection League can be contacted.

No the Council no longer provides a Pest Control Service. Please contact your local independent pest control service.

Q8. How do I deal with noisy neighbours?
A. An Environmental Health Officer from the Council will discuss your complaint and undertake monitoring where appropriate. Where noise nuisance continues un-abated formal action may have to be taken by the Council to resolve the matter. Please ask for the Environmental Health Officer specialising in Noise Control. Q9. What do I need to do to open a food business?
A. Planning permission would be an important first requirement to have in place for your business. Contacts should then be made with an Environmental Health Officer for Food Control who will be able to provide advice on structures, finishes, equipment, practices, hygiene training requirements, hazard analysis as well as advice on obtaining formal registration.

Q10. What can I do if I think I’ve got Food Poisoning?
A. In the first instance contact your local GP in order for confirmation to be obtained. If you suspect a food premises which you have eaten in recently might be implicated contact the Environmental Health Officer for Food Control in the Council. Follow up visits and sampling programmes at the suspected premises may result. If you think that the food poisoning resulted from home catering, barbequing or other form of cooking free information and advice can still be obtained from the Department in relation to this on 028 87720 367.

In any event the food and its wrappings together with the contaminated material should be brought to the Environmental Health Department as soon as possible. A short interview obtaining details of purchase and how discovered will be undertaken. This may result in formal or informal proceedings and contact being made with the retailer and or manufacturer of the product concerned.
